Thiago is the founding partner of Bregunci Advocacia. With more than 18 years’ experience, he has worked in various government positions and in renowned medium-sized law firms in Minas Gerais, with a special focus on the areas of litigation and administrative and regulatory consultancy.
He has experience in various relevant sectors of the economy, such as civil construction and infrastructure, and in regulated sectors in general, from energy and sanitation to funeral services and mining. His practice also includes years of involvement with regulatory compliance and internal controls issues, both in law firms and in government.
COMPLETE PROFILE
During his years in the public sector, he was a Fiscal Councilor of the Minas Gerais Development Bank (BDMG), a Board Member of Minas Gerais Administração e Serviços (MGS) and Deputy Secretary General of the Governor’s Office of the State Government of Minas Gerais. During this period, among other duties, he structured the Office of the Comptroller General of the State of Minas Gerais and coordinated numerous internal control assessment projects.
His practice includes advising on and monitoring class actions, such as administrative improbity and public civil actions, advising on and monitoring proceedings before the courts of auditors, monitoring audit and internal control proceedings, advising on proceedings before regulatory agencies and other public bodies, analyzing and advising on regulatory frameworks in sectors such as energy, oil, natural gas, telecommunications, infrastructure and transportation, studies and opinions in general on administrative and regulatory law, and advising on the implementation of compliance projects.
He also has a solid academic background at institutions in Brazil and the United States and was a professor of Administrative Law at the Newton Paiva University Center.
